Sketched out by Hyunjoon Yoo Architects and completed in 2009, Floating House is located in Gyeonggi, South Korea, and it is definitely a sight to behold. It was created for a couple in their fifties, and it sits close by to the restaurant that they own and manage. The clients specifically asked for a study room, a guesthouse for their daughter’s family, and a barbecue place, and the architects managed to implement all of these elements in a seamless fashion.
What makes this house special is that most of its rooms are interconnected somehow even though this might not be obvious at first. For example, the kitchen and the study room are divided by a staircase, but they are also connected through a small window. Moreover, the bathroom offers great views of the sky thanks to its top window, but it also links up to a staircase that leads to the roof through the same window. The living room boasts a series of windows at the top and bottom, which help create a unique view similar to a wormhole.
