Only one look at Ralph Lauren’s immense collection of luxe cars, and you will be sleepless for weeks, thinking about the wonders that his garage holds. Recently, the fashion designer’s stunning collection has inspired a new series of model cars, just in time for the upcoming “gift season”.
Ralph Lauren Home created four different models of 1:8-scale classic car replicas, inspired by the beauty of the 1958 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa, the 1960 Ferrari 250 GTO, the 1938 Bugatti 57 SC Atlantic Coupe, and the 1996 McLaren F1 LM. After digitally scanning the original cars, the small team who worked on each prototype obtained an incredibly accurate image of the vehicles.
In order to respect the details with an accuracy of one tenth of a millimeter, they had to work nearly 3,000 hours for each model. The beautiful handcrafted cars are priced at $9,500 each – roughly the same amount of money that one would have to pay for a complete restoration of the original car.
