Zaha Hadid’s First Building in New York City

Two decades after her first commission in Germany, Zaha Hadid is now a legend of architecture and design. Looking towards the future and working in the present, the Baghdad-born architect inspires and amazes with her every new creation. Soon one of her out-of-this-world buildings is going to be built in New York City to the delight of many.

Located next to the High Lane at 520 West 28th Street, the project is a 11-story condo, commissioned by Related Companies. Even though the available space was quite limited and the architect could not go entirely wild with her plans, what she has proposed for this area is far from conservative and ordinary. Staying true to her iconic style, she and her business partner Patrik Schumacher envisioned a beautiful building with two wings.

Because one of the wings is taller than the other, a double height lobby could be designed, as well as a number of varied layouts. Hadid’s company will also create the interiors of the residential building, and we are really anxious to see the project completed. We already know it is going to be a glamorous spectacle of shapes, colors, textures and light.
