You think Prada and Armani suits are prohibitively expensive? Well, you probably haven’t heard of the $940,000 luxury suite created in Manchester, UK by Stuart Hughes and Richard Jewls. The piece was sold in Hong Kong for HKD 7.3 million, a price justified by the number of carats it boasted and the fine materials that it was made of. A perfect blend of expensive wool, cashmere and silk was masterfully put together in a fab suite and then adorned with 480 diamonds (240 carats).
While the Hughes and Jewls suite is the most expensive suite out there, the second most expensive was created by Apsley Tailors, known in Hong Kong as Punjab House. This fashionable piece is a one-off creation with precious gold strands intertwined with high quality wool for an amazing glam effect. The gold waistcoat goes perfectly well with the gold and diamond buttons. The stitching too was realized with 22k gold thread.
Arshad Mahmood, the director of Apsley Tailors, said that his master tailors spent some 200 hours on this unique project. It was sold last month to an unidentified buyer who paid HKD 1 million (approx. $129,000) for it.
