World’s Most Expensive Ford Mustang Goes for $1.3 Million

An exciting new record was achieved during the recent Mecum Auction in Indianapolis. A one-off 1967 Shelby GT Super Snake was sold for a whopping $1.3 million! This prohibitive price makes it not only the highest grossing lot of the auction, but also the most expensive Ford Mustang ever. Powering the car is a Ford GT40-sourced V8 engine with a 427 cubic inch displacement.

According to Mustangs Daily, the original plan for this model was to produce 50 units, but its original price ($8,000 back then, which would be about $54,000 today) proved to be a bit too extreme and there simply weren’t enough interested buyers willing to pay all that money for the car.

Clearly, things have changed dramatically nowadays, because it is not uncommon for diehard car enthusiasts to pay millions for a car – much more than the price of a regular house.
