Number five on the list is the Sultan of Brunei and the $27 million party that he threw for no less than 10,000 guests. At some point during the celebration, he decided to make the event even more exciting, and announced a pay raise for the civil servants of the kingdom: the first one in two decades!

4. The Wedding of Lakshmi Mittal’s Daughter (2004)

The world famous Indian steel magnate threw a huge party for his lovely daughter, Vanisha Mittal. She and her husband Amit Bhatia celebrated their love in a 17th century chateau in France, called Vaux le Vicomte. The whole deal cost a massive $60 million.
