The media had prepared us all for month for what had been announced to be a fairy tale-like royal wedding for Kate Middleton and her Prince Charming. And when it finally happened, it really was. But all this came with a price! Seventy million dollars, to be more exact. The most expensive items at this wedding were the cake and the beautiful bride’s dress.

2. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (1981)

It happened three decades ago, but it remained in history as one of the most spectacular weddings in the world. When Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum married Princess Salama, their wedding cost a whopping $45 million, which would now mean $100 million! The celebration lasted an entire week and a 20,000-seat stadium was built for the event. Thirty-four private jets ensured transportation to all guests.
