The spectacular Freak timepiece by Ulysse Nardin is celebrating 10 years of existence. For this very special occasion, the luxury watch manufacturer designed a very special anniversary edition of the watch to be sold exclusively through The Hour Glass boutiques.
Only 20 examples of the Ulysse Nardin FreakHour Glass edition will ever be manufactured, the figure representing the number of years of collaboration between the two brands. What makes this watch a ‘freak’ is a series of totally unconventional features that were fresh and unheard of when the timepiece was launched a decade ago.
The Freak has no hands, no crown, and essentially no case. Furthermore, the bezel and the crystal were part of the movement. The wearer reads the time directly from the movement which rotates around the dial. Aptly described as “wrist poetry” and “kinetic art”, it received the Innovation Prize award in 2001.
The limited edition version features 53 diamonds on the minute and hour indexes. It is a 7-day Carrousel Tourbillon and boasts the patented lubricant-free Dual Ulysse Escapement in silicium. With a power reserve of 7 days, this is a totally irresistible piece for watch collectors.
