The Sporty yet Family-Friendly 2013 Ferrari FF

2013 Ferrari FF (32)

Loving your new family life, but not exactly ready to give up your favorite sports car for a practical and boring family vehicle? Well, Ferrari has got the perfect solution for you: the 2013 Ferrari FF with a roaring 651-hp engine and comfy seats for up to four fully grown adults. While we don’t recommend you drive this baby at full speed (208 mph!) with your kids and spouse next to you, no one candeny that owning the world’s fastest four-passenger is a very, very cool thing!

Powering this machine is a 6.3-liter V12 engine with 651 hp at 8,000 rpm and 504 lb-ft. of torque at 6,000 rpm. A seven-speed dual-clutch automated-manual transmission sends the power to the rear wheels and ensures super-fast and smooth gear switches. As a result, the FF can rush from standstill to 62 mph in just 3.7 seconds.

There is also an extra gearbox situated in front of the engine, which is only activated below fourth-gear speeds. This mechanism sends up to 20 percent of the total output to the front wheels when special circumstances require it. With the introduction of a second gearbox, the car can keep a low weight without compromising on traction capabilities.

Another feature that you will definitely appreciate is the HELE start/stop system which helps reduce fuel consumption while idling. While the 11/17 city/highway mpg consumption is not exactly desirable in a normal family car, these figures are actually pretty goodfor a Ferrari. Emissions are around 360 g/km.

As far as design goes, the Italian automaker does not disappoint. The FF flaunts an aggressive-looking oversized front grille, a wagon-like roofline and a hatchback body style. We’d say it is situated at the right distance between practical and sporty. Cargo room is quite generous, offering 16 cubic feet of space that can be expanded to 28 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded down.

As always, Ferrari created a very alluring interior as well, and then offered a very tempting list of optional trims and other cool features. With all this in mind, we really believe that the 2013 FF is the perfect companion in your transitionfrom a dare-devil bachelor to a cautious husband and daddy.
