Stunning Pleyel Piano by Peugeot Design Lab

Piano manufacturer Pleyel and famous Peugeot Design Lab, two French brands with extensive expertise, decided to join forces for one outstanding project: an innovative piano with an out-of-this-world design.

Sleek, easily flowing lines make up the aerodynamic contour of the UFO-like piano. The materials used for this piece are wood (for the soundboard and body), and carbon fiber (for the lid and leg). The special properties of these materials make them ideal for such an innovative musical instrument.

One of the piano’s most remarkable features is the lowered mechanism, which is set at the same level as the keyboard, translating to an excellent sound experience. This also changes the classic design of grand pianos into something new and refreshing.

To complete the stunning visual effect, the designers behind this project decided to give up the traditional three-leg configuration of the instrument, and go for a one-leg design that’s very much inspired by the automotive world. As a final touch, the lid doesn’t need a stick to hold it up, as it features and advanced system of levers that keep it up without any propping.

Unveiled at this year’s Paris Motor Show, the outstanding piano can already be ordered at the Peugeot Design Lab stand. One piece will set you back €165,000 (over $215,000).
