Piaget is ready to reveal another “world first” creation at the 2013 Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie. Called the Piaget Emperador Coussin XL Ultra-Thin Minute Repeater, this timepiece boasts the thinnest movement of its kind, caliber 1290P.
We are already accustomed to the famous Swiss luxury manufacturer coming up with innovative creations and impressive inventions, so this new project fits the profile just right. In addition to its new record size (the case is only 9.4-mm thin!), the watch also boasts another remarkable feature, namely the complete lack of a dial.
So what do people look at when admiring the watch? A superb work of functional art, made of rose gold and featuring an exposed skeletal movement instead of a classic dial. The hands and hour markers are made of rose gold, and this makes them stand out as they “float” over the silvery movement. Finally, the caseback is also transparent, revealing a perpetually moving gold micro-rotor.
