Spyker Gets Sacrificed to Save Saab

Spyker Gets Sacrificed to Save Saab (5)

In order to save Saab, the brand that it bought in 2010, Spyker is ready to sell its luxury car business. Russian billionaire Vladimir Antonov, owner of CPP Global Holdings in UK, will be the new owner of the hand-built exotic rides maker. He is expected to buy the business for about $44 million, just enough to help the company recover from its financial problems and start focusing on Saab.

Spyker sold only 36 vehicles in 2009 with prices ranging from $280,000 to $300,000. That’s obviously not very good, but Saab did a little better: last year it sold 31,696 units. Still, that’s not exactly an impressive total, especially when compared to the figures planned for the near future:  80,000 cars this year and 120,000 vehicles the next.

Now we’re really curious to see what Vladimir Antonov will do next with Spyker and what future awaits Saab. We sincerely wish them both good luck!
