Described by its maker as “liquid history”, this record-breaking cocktail is definitely the most expensive one in the world. A tiny glass of the special beverage costs a whopping £5,500 (approx. $8,800), and it isn’t even served with a precious gem, a gold-plated straw, or anything like that.
The beverages used for the special mix sum up over seven centuries of history, which brings another record to the table: the cocktail is also the oldest one ever! It was called Salvatore’s Legacy, as its maker was no other than the famous mixologist Salvatore Calabrese.
He put together the old beverages in front of a cheering audience and top bartenders at the Playboy Club in Mayfair, London, UK. Mr. Calabrese has a truly impressive collection of rare cognacs that date back to the 18th century, and which are worth over £1 million.
