Richard Mille and kung fu star Jackie Chan have been friends for a long time, and they have collaborated in many occasions for charity purposes. In September 2011, for instance, the renowned watchmaker created a one-off luxury timepiece that was sold for $860,000 at a charity auction that raised money for children in rural areas.
Now that everybody is celebrating the Year of the Dragon, Richard Mille found it very appropriate to create a limited edition watch that would reflect his friendship with the world-famous actor in a truly special way. The RM 057 Dragon-Jackie Chan wristwatch is an exceptional piece of art made of only the finest materials and featuring impeccable craftsmanship.
The movement baseplate is made of pure, deep Black Onyx, and the case is made of 18K red or white gold. A beautiful red dragon, boasting a high level of detail, seems to be embracing the movement and gripping the tourbillion bridge with its claws. Jackie Chan’s Chinese name means “become a dragon”, so it is not a coincidence that Richard Mille chose the beginning of the Year of the Dragon to launch this very special timepiece. Only 36 pieces will ever be made.
