Ridiculously Expensive Doll Sold At Bonhams For $400,000

Usually, hearing about the world’s most expensive doll forces us to envision a heavily embellished and luxurious product, but it looks like heritage and rarity can be just as valuable as gold and diamonds. This particular doll was sold at the Bonhams, Knightsbridge auction for $400,000, and it was made by Kämmer & Reinhardt – a German doll manufacturer.

The price is justified by the doll’s uniqueness and by the fact that it doesn’t look like any ordinary child’s toy. It depicts a young lady living in the early 1900s, and it boasts a straw hat, blonde hair, blue-grey eyes and a white dress with lace sleeves and a blue ribbon.

Since the doll is believed to be one of a kind, it is possible that it was made using an experimental mold, which definitely contributed to its overall value. Kämmer & Reinhardt are generally highly sought after by collectors, as proved by the other 2 dolls that were bought for incredibly high prices. A porcelain doll fetched no less than $280,000, while a “Heinz”doll depicting a little boy brought in $188,000.
