
Amazingly expensive photographs will be sold this month at Sotheby’s Photographies sale in Paris. Most of the offerings are pictures of the early 1990s, but some of them are a little closer to the 21st century. Albert Watson’s Naomi Campbell for instance is from 1989. Then there is the 1987 portrait of Andy Warhol by LaChapelle, and a Herb Ritts portrait of Madonna, taken in 1986. All these are expected to sell for $10,000 to $21,000.
But the star of the show will be late Richard Avedon’s portrait of Stephanie Seymour, a photo taken in 1992. It is a black and white nude picture of the American model and actress. Believe it or not, the picture is expected to set somebody back $210,000. We wonder who will hang the expensive picture of the half-naked woman on their wall…
