The wisest thing to do when you have too many private islands (how often does that happen?!) is to start renting. This is exactly what Sir Richard Branson, the renowned owner of Virgin Group, has recently decided to do with his heart-shaped Makepeace Island on Noosa River, Australia.
Easily accessible by riverboat or helicopter, the island was purchased by Sir Branson in 2003 with the intention of using it as an eco-retreat for the Virgin Australia crew. Today however, anyone can spend an unforgettable time on the 25-acre island that can accommodate some 22 guests in luxe conditions. For $8,000 per night, you can enjoy the 500,000-liter lagoon pool, the two-story open Balinese bamboo villa, the lush gardens, the spa, the bar, the tennis court, the pavilion, the bar and the wonderful beach areas.
