Picking Out Gifts For Friends and Family: An Easy Guide With Strategies

With the holidays rolling around again, now is the time to start thinking about and coming up with ideas of gifts for the people on your shopping list.

Certain people are always easy to shop for. These are the usual suspects of people that you already have a good idea of what they like, and you know that you can’t make any real mistakes when shopping for them.

Then you have the people that are sort of in limbo in the middle of the line, where they are a little bit pickier and a little bit harder to find gifts for.

So every year it comes down to us all doing some soul-searching as well as a lot of Internet searching for unique gift ideas.

There are a tremendous amount of websites out there that offer all types of ideas in all different types of categories and they definitely prove helpful in the gift selection process.

But then you have the people on your list that you just have no clue on what to get no matter how much searching you do..

That is why we came up with this quick guide of what to get this year.

To make life a little easier, we have broken down some of the main categories with some helpful hints of what you can do as far as gift ideas go.

Shopping For Your Neighbors

Shopping for your neighbors is usually pretty casual and easy.

Gift baskets, bottles of wine, specialty foods, candles, and gift cards almost always do the trick.

Shopping for Your Family

Shopping for your family is usually pretty straightforward as well.

You pretty much know everyone inside and out and you know what their likes and dislikes are.

Younger kids usually like toys and the latest gadgets

With the older kids you can usually never go wrong by buying clothes and apparel. Jewelry and gift cards also work very well.

When it comes to your spouse or loved ones, it does get a little bit harder!

If shopping for a girl spouse, really cool kitchen gadgets and home decor pieces work well.

If shopping for a male spouse, just get them something related to their hobbies. If they love fishing, get them the best fishing book you can find, or get them a gift card to any place that sells high-end fishing accessories.

Then there’s always the family members that you see only once a year, and you really have no idea what their passions are or what they are fond of and what they might want or like.

If it’s an older Aunt, high-end chocolates and edible arrangements usually work.

And if it’s an older uncle, you really can’t go wrong with a bottle of booze. Check out Drizzly to pick out some cool spirits.

Drizzly is becoming sort of an online craze now when it comes to boot

if you have women in your family that have good taste and are a little bit on the pickier side, a gorgeous cubic zirconia ring, bracelet, or necklace in the $200 to $300 range works every time.

Shopping for Friends

Shopping for friends is usually pretty easy as well especially if you know what their passions are.

Gift certificates for high-end restaurants or high-end day spas work well.

Anything that gives pleasure works for friends!

If you have a little bit extra in your budget, a weekend getaway gift certificate for a fancy Hotel impresses every time.

Coworkers

Nice table books, infuser bottles, desk organizers, bottles of wine, and nice high-end pens usually do the trick!

Hard to Shop for people: Friends and Family

This is where we all need a little bit of help.

We’ve all heard of the saying “what do I buy for the person that has everything?”

But did you also know that there is a demographic of people who really don’t want to give to anybody in a really don’t want anything in return.

When you ask them what they want for their birthday or for a holiday gift they reply, “nothing”.

When they say that, it always puts you in an awkward position. LOL

Because now at this point, when they give your response of “nothing”, you really have no clue!

Here’s a great resource for the woman who wants and expects nothing.

We like a lot of the ideas in that post because they are chosen with some reverse psychology and with the idea to impress that woman who wants nothing.

The ideas are a little bit over the top, but definitely fun to check out.

So we hope these ideas prove helpful this holiday season.

Best of luck with your gift buying.

If you take the time to be creative and thoughtful, your gifts will always be cherished.
