Even though Joey Ruiter is mostly known for creating unique furniture, the West-Michigan-based designer has decided to try something different for a change. The Lo-Ruiter Longboard is one of his latest projects, and it definitely features an original design that was probably inspired by high-end furniture. Practical and easy on the eyes, this longboard boasts a molded maple and carbon fiber deck as well as trucks set on its surface.
Instantly recognizable is the board’s low profile design, which doesn’t sacrifice functionality in any way because Ruiter drilled out a series of wheel-wells that support cornering. In order to slow down, the rider needs only to place his or her shoe on the spinning back wheels. The Lo-Ruiter Longboard also features a series of handles that make it very easy to carry around. Pricing starts at around $300, which sounds about right for such a unique product.
