We were not at all surprised to learn that Nicki Minaj got “Barbied”. After all, she is a living Barbie, isn’t she? A declared fan of the iconic doll, the artist has agreed to have her style immortalized in a one-off Barbie doll for charitable purposes. The money from the sale will be directed towards a foundation that helps children with AIDS. The doll’s look is inspired by the singer’s “Pink Friday” album cover and it will be sold in Los Angeles.
Bidding will start at $1,000, and no one knows how high the price will rise. Mattel has been on the market for 50 year with the world-famous Barbie doll. The company is happy to bring together two icons of the pop culture in one single creation. Stephani Yocky, the spokesman from Barbie, said: “It’s really exciting for us that she [Minaj] has been so generous to allow us to create this one-of-a-kind doll to support such an important cause.”
