New M3 and M5 Performance Editions from BMW

BMW has two new goodies for the UK: the M3 and M5 Performance Editions . After having received a few upgrades, the cars are considerably better and more expensive than the stock versions.

The BMW M3 Performance Edition is powered by the same engine as the stock model (a 420 hp V8), coupled to a seven-speed M DCT transmission and a variable M differential. The Competition Package that the automaker launched a few years back is also present in this , together with an Electronic Damp Control, a 10mm lower suspension, and a DSC+ system.

The BMW M5 Performance Edition gets its juice from the stock V8 TwinPower Turbo engine that puts out 560 hp. It is equipped with Electronic Damp Control and Active M differential, and its price is quite higher than that of its less extravagant sibling. It costs around £95,000 ($146,000), while the M3 is priced at about £74,000 ($114,600).

Both models received a few interior upgrades as well, including Alcantara-covered steering wheels, Piano Black trims, M logos in a few key spots, Full Black Merino leather upholstery for the M5, and Black Novillo leather upholstery for the M3. Three different paintjob versions are also available for the two models, and this also includes a matte wrap.
