Limited Edition Camus Cuvee 5.150 Anniversary Cognac

Camus, the incredibly successful family-owned producer of fine cognac, has chosen to celebrate its 150th anniversary with a world tour. The initiative pays tribute to the brand’s founder, who showed a lot of courage when he chose to start his own company instead of selling his grapes to the already established cognac producers of the time.

His bold move was fully rewarded in time, and now, five generations later, the company is the largest independent producer of cognac in the world, despite being the youngest among all other established multi-national producers. Cyril Camus represents the fifth generation of the family to run the business, and he is determined to continue the strong legacy of his great-great-grandfather.

Number five plays a very important role in this celebration of success and growth: Camus is now the 5th largest producer of cognac (the other four are owned by conglomerates), and the anniversary Camus Cuvee 5.150 blend is a result of 5 very rare eaux-de-vie sourced from 5 different regions: Borderies Cognacs, Bon Bois, Fin Bois, Petite Champagne, and Grande Champagne.

The exquisite mix is sold in Baccarat Crystal decanters boasting a unique irregular design. Only 1,492 bottles will ever be produced, each one with its individual number and a hefty price tag: $13,500. Since this is a 150-year celebration, Camus decided to offer the first 150 decanters together with 100 ml “ultimate samples”, all individually numbered as well. These contain the last sample that the master cellar took before the decanters were filled. This sample is usually kept for the Camus family cognac library, and it will now be shared with 150 lucky connoisseurs.

The anniversary tour started with Cyril Camus’ visit to the States, where the brand made its debut in 2010. He will continue his journey to other more established markets around the world, inspired by the courage and determination of his great-great-grandfather, who wasn’t afraid to dream big and work hard for his goals.
