Navitimer Cosmonaute Blacksteel is a new limited edition luxury timepiece from Breitling, dedicated to space explorers. Last year the company celebrated 50 years since Lt Commander Scott Carpenter wore a Breitling Navitimer on his wrist as he orbited Earth three times aboard the Aurora 7 spacecraft.
This year the brand is launching a special edition Navitimer Cosmonaute with a black steel case flaunting a highly-resistant carbon coating. The dark theme is completed by the black dial and hands, as well as the black rubber strap. The luminescent dial indicators create a contrast which not only ensures perfect readability, but also evokes the beauty of the dark starry universe.
Inside the case there is a Breitling Caliber B02 with COSC-certified chronometer function and a 70-hour power reserve. Essential for a watch that can be used up in space, the 24-hour display is also present on the new Blacksteel. Only 1,000 units will be made for worldwide distribution, and they will all feature the Aurora 7 mission insignia on the caseback.
