Innovative GoSleep Pods in Abu Dhabi International Airport

The Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) has a clearly established purpose: “exceeding customers’ expectations and delivering world-class levels of service”. After entering one of the company’s airports you will be impressed to see that it truly stands up to its declared goal. The latest ADAC innovation is meant to bring comfort and safety closer to anybody who needs a moment of rest between flights.

They have recently introduced the technologically advanced GoSleeppods, a world first that is clearly destined for success. The sleeping pods feature extra comfortable chairs that can be reclined and turned into perfectly flat beds . A sliding shade can then be partially or entirely drawn over the chair, providing privacy, as well as effective light and noise cancellation.

Only 10 such pods have been installed so far, and they can be seen (and used) in the Abu Dhabi International Airport. The current version is scheduled for upgrades, as ADAC plans to introduce Internet access and the possibility to charge electronic devices during sleep. Thirty-five more sleep pods have already been commissioned and will be installed during this year. One hour of rest in the Finnish-designed sleep machines costs AED 45/hour, which is approximately $12 per hour.
