How to Create a High-Design Kids’ Room

Children are a true blessing. Every parent wants their kids to grow up in an environment that’s safe, comfortable and cozy. However, not all parents know how to create such an environment for their little ones.

Many struggle with understanding how much is too much when it comes to a kids’ room design. Sure, you want to create a space that’s engaging and stimulating. But not to a point where they won’t be able to relax and unwind. That being said, here are some fun ideas on how you can design a stylish yet kid-friendly room for your younglings.

Baby

If your kid is still a baby or even a newborn, you will need to set up a comfortable nursery. A well-put together nursery should be bright and warm, with the possibility to completely dim the lights for when it’s time for your baby’s nap. Additionally, you should ensure that you install a high-quality, hypoallergenic carpet to keep the baby’s room warm and well insulated. Moreover, you will need a sturdy and spacious dresser and a supportive nursing chair. During this stage, you should aim at designing a room that will cater to both your and your baby’s needs.

Toddler

Once your kid grows up a bit, a smile nursery design just won’t do any longer. So, you should now aim at creating a space that’s a bit more engaging and fun. Consider changing the wall color, especially if you’ve previously gone for neutral shades. Try to section the room off in different areas. For instance, you should have an area where your child can sit and draw or color. Aside from that, you also need to have a “low-engagement” area, i.e. the bed area. Furthermore, create a so-called fun zone where your kids can play with their favorite toys. While on that note, your kid will also need some new toys. So, look for some cool stuff like these kids’ science kits at FuntasticToy.

As they get bigger, they will start to yearn for knowledge. Also, the creative part of their brain will start to blossom, which is why you need to make sure that their room design encourages that behavior. Make sure you get a writing desk where your kid can practice writing or simply start getting used to the fact that soon they’ll start school. Make sure that the desk and chair are ergonomic, to ensure that your kid has the right support. Also, if your child expresses the desire to change up their room’s design, take their ideas into account and see how you can implement at least some of them. This way, your kid’s room will feel even more personal.

School-aged

Finally, once your child reaches this age, they’ll start expressing themselves more and more. This is also probably the last period of your kid’s life where you will still be able to affect how their rooms look. Once they become teenagers, get ready for posters, dimmed lights and crochet dreamcatchers. School-aged kids will need an environment that enables them to get their schoolwork done without any distractions. For as long as you possibly can, avoid adding a TV to your kid’s room, as it will only keep them distracted. Also, now’s the time to try and put together a nice reading nook, where your kids can enjoy some fun light reading once they’re done with their homework.
