Patterson Associates Created this lovely contemporary house in Arrowtown, New Zealand. They made it to perfectly fit into the landscape and evoke both the beautiful nature around it and the owner’s favorite sport: golf.

What you see in the pictures is actually less than one third of the house, as the rest of the construction lays underground. This is how the architects managed to avoid creating an unnatural lump into the landscape, and we find their solution very inspiring. Water, waste, energy, and climate control systems are contained on the site, which is a great advantage.

So what can be found further into the ground? Workshops, service areas, cart storage, a private gym, and a spa with two color therapy rooms. You can see the entire Patterson Associates creation in the blueprint images, but that’s really nothing compared to the real thing.
