Elm Court is a beautiful modern property in North London, owned by a recently retired couple. The owners had previously worked with AR Design Studio at a holiday home, and having been very pleased with that collaboration, they enlisted the studio’s expertise for their new residential project.
They wanted a single story extension of an existing home with modest dimensions. The new open-plan volumes had to be elegant and contemporary in design, and they had to ensure a seamless transition from the original building to the new one. The project included a new living/dining area, kitchen, office, bathroom, utility room and home cinema.
This transformation gave AR the opportunity to do what they love best: create a harmonious communication between indoor and outdoor spaces, blurring the lines between nature andthe man-made. The result is a home that seems to reach its arms and embrace the rear garden, encouraging dwellers to connect with the beautiful outdoors.
