This contemporary home in Deolali, Maharashtra, India was designed by SPASM Design Architects and was completed in 2014 on a site that includes a gently sloping rock. The architects wanted to adapt the house to the terrain and not the other way around, and so they implemented an economical foundation strategy that comprised a flat body and precut metal components.
The house was designed to offer a low-tech lifestyle, as the remote location is known for its lack of maintenance and electricity outages. Glass walls and floor-to-ceiling windows were implemented in order to make sure that the residents would be able to admire the staggering views of the surrounding environment from almost every room. The main bedroom is particularly impressive, as it features a minimalistic look and is bathed in natural light throughout the day. The house offers 4,886 square feet of living space, and even though it was built on a budget, it looks like a wonderful place to come home to.
