Budapest And Tehran Linked By An Outstanding Train Service

There’s something quite special about traveling by train, isn’t it? Ordinary train rides have their own appeal, while those that promise to take us to distant, exotic lands are even more tempting. The Golden Eagle-Danube Express recently went on its maiden voyage from Budapest to Istanbul, and it will travel all the way to Iran’s capital in March 2015.

The train features 13 wood-paneled carriages from the 1950s and offers enough accommodations for about 70 guests. It was designed to provide a luxurious, comfortable and elegant experience as a nod to the famous Orient Express, which had a good run until 2009.

The Golden Eagle-Danube Express will take its passengers across two continents on a 14-day trip that covers 4,350 miles. It will start off in Hungary and will make its way across the picturesque lands of Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey before entering Western Asia through the cities Shiraz, Persepolis and Tehran.

Such an iconic journey does not come cheap unfortunately, as a ticket is expected to cost somewhere between $14,000 and $40,000.
