Bonhams’ Jewelry and Watches sale held during Pebble Beach Car Week was a spectacular success. Actually, the best way to describe it is “above pre-sale estimates”. One of the highlights of the event was the 18-carat gold Rolls-Royce belt buckle, weighing 47.2 grams and measuring 21/8 inches by 113/16 inches. It fetched $3,050 (buyer’s premium included).
Another remarkable success was the Girard Perregaux for Ferrari watch, a stainless steel calendar chronograph timepiece with a red Ferrari dial bearing the automaker’s logo. Seven screws secured the 38 mm case and the bracelet was made of stainless steel. This piece went for $4,880.
The most exquisite piece at the sale was a diamond and gold (18 carat) Rolls Royce radiator wristwatch from Corum with a quartz movement and dauphine hands on the 23 mm gold tone fluted dial. The bezel was adorned with diamonds and boasted the RR logo and the “Spirit of Ecstasy” ornament. The price of this beauty was a whopping $7,076.
