BMW’s 2013 6 Series Gran Coupe Almost Ready for Its Debut

BMW made some significant changes to their big 6 Series model. Following on Mercedes-Benz’s steps, they decided to go with a four-door coupe, so now the 2013 6 Series Gran Coupe has two extra doors and a little more space on the back seat, giving the car a 4+1 configuration.

Two versions will be created for the States, and the first one to make it here will be a 640i, powered by a N55 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six, capable of 315 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque. The second one will be a 650i with a 4.4-liter V8, boasting 445 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. Both versions will have a ZF-sourced 8-speed automatic transmission. The latter will be available with xDrive all-wheel drive, or a rear-wheel drive system.

The new Gran Coupe will also boast a luxurious interior, packed with high technologies. The car’s official debut will probably take place at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2012, even though we hoped to see it sooner, at the Detroit Auto Show next month. No word on the price yet.
