According to Bloomberg, Bill Gates has once again reached the top position on the list of world’s richest people. With a mind-boggling fortune of $72.7 billion, Gates has left rival Carlos Slim behind and regained the title at 57 years of age.
Apparently Microsoft has seen a significant increase in shares – 28 percent –even though Windows 8 did not enjoy the success that people had anticipated. In the meantime, the former richest person in the world was struck by a huge loss of approximately $2 billion, after Mexico’s Congress requested him to loosen his grip on the country’s telecommunication market.
Consequently, Slim’s fortune has dropped to about $72.1 billion, which is just a bit lower than that of Bill Gates. The fabled Microsoft icon last held this position in 2007, but something tells us he is not that interested in flashy titles. After all, he did decide to donate his fortune for the less privileged through his Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation by signing the famous Giving Pledge.
