This year has treated us with quite a few automotive goodies, and now that it is almost over we declare ourselves satisfied. Slightly modified older models (like from Audi or Bentley) or completely new jewels (like from Fisker or Lamborghini), these are some of the most impressive automobiles of 2010.
1. Audi R8 GT
The ride is some 220 pounds lighter (carbon fiber, of course), and that makes the output of its V10 a little more impressive: the new GT has a 199 mph maximum speed and the 0-62 mph sprint can be done in 3.6 seconds.
2. Alfa Romeo Pandion Concept
This year’s Geneva Motor Show had the honor of hosting a stunning concept car from Alfa Romeo. Jason Castriota designed this car which will probably never make it to the production line. Nevertheless, the Pandion concept is one of 2010’s best looking cars.
3. Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport
Because of the electronic limiter, this monster’s maximum speed is of ‘only’ 258 mph. Without the limiter, it could reach 270 mph. Even so, the black and red monster is the world’s fastest road car ever. You really have to be a brave-heart to drive this baby.
4. Jaguar C-X75 Concept
This one was showcased at this year’s Paris Motor Show. It is a hybrid vehicle powered by an electric motor that’s paired to two gas-fed turbines. Probably the best part about this car is the fact that it can go for about 560 miles on a single tank of fuel. Or maybe the best part is that it can reach 205 mph and go from standstill to 60 mph in only 3.2 seconds. You decide.
5. Maserati Granturismo MC Stradale
Accompanying the Jaguar C-X75 Concept at the Paris Motor Show was the beautiful Maserati Granturismo MC Stradale. The ride’s 4.2 liter V8 engine can deliver 450 hp and it pushes the ride with up to 186 mph.
6. Fisker Karma
Finally ready to hit production, the 2011 Fisker Karma hybrid luxury ride was also presented at the Paris Motor Show. The great thing about it is that it’s a pretty affordable vehicle for a sports car. With ‘only’ $88,000 the 663 hybrid horsepower car can be yours.
7. Lamborghini Sesto Elemento
The Sesto Elemento is another beauty that has been shown off in Paris this year. Only 2.5 seconds are just about enough for it to fly from 0 to 60 mph. This V10 engine powered beast, will reach its maximum speed before you can say ‘Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanokoniosis’. Yeah, that’s a real word.
8. Hennessey Venom GT
For $1,000,000, this baby can be yours. This means you’ll be the owner of a ride that weighs only 2,548 pounds and which needs no more than 2.9 seconds to complete the 0 to 60 mph sprint. Sounds tempting, huh? But have you got the money for it?
9. 2011 Bentley Continental GT
Luxury and performance – what a great combination! Perfectly working on ethanol or a fossil-based product, this is one heck of a flexible-fuel vehicle. Flaunting a restyled body and an improved W12 engine that’s capable of putting out 567 hp, this Continental GT is definitely a ride to covet.
