Located in Queensland, Australia, this beautiful contemporary residence was designed by Bark Design Architects. It is called the Sunshine Beach House, as it was created for a family that wanted a nice holiday retreat by the beach.
The main challenge for the architects was to design a spacious and airy dwelling within a somewhat small site, measuring 536 square meters (5,769 square feet) and being surrounded by four houses and a duplex.
Inspired by the mid century’s beach shacks, this luxe dwelling features an economical material palette, including timber screens, timber framing, polished concrete, exposed studs, and FC weatherboards. As all contemporary homes, this two-story residence too boasts with an excellent indoors-outdoors communication and blurred boundaries between the two.
