Cognac Pierre Ferrand 1840 Formula Wins Best New Product Award

The Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards is an annual festival that takes place in New Orleans every July. Over 22,000 connoisseurs of exquisite drinks gather at this five-day event to be the first to learn about what’s important in the world of spirits and cocktails. Every year, there are several categories of awards to be handed to the best drinks on the market, and this year one of the winners was Cognac Pierre Ferrand 1840 Formula.

At the 10th edition of the festival, the cognac received the title of Best New Product, leaving behind other very important names in the industry, including Perlini System, Lillet Rose, and Chairman’s Reserve Spiced Rum. The nominees of the category had to meet some requirements: the spirit had to be launched after March 2011, and were also required to be on general retail sale in at least three different states in the US, as of March 31, 2012.

Another very important requirement was for the product to be the best new cocktail ingredient or piece of cocktail equipment (anything from syrup, juice, and spirit, to shakers, muddlers and other similar products). Alexandre Gabriel, the owner of Cognac Ferrand talked about his brand’s remarkable success and said: Cognac deserves to be back behind the bar in a place of honor where it enjoyed decades of prominence as THE spirit for cocktails. We [together with cocktail historian David Wondrich] created Pierre Ferrand 1840 to be that kind of Cognac and to receive this honor shows that we did the right thing. We are very happy.”
