5 “Smart” Technologies That Will Change The World In The Next 5 Years

Technology is developing quickly, and the world of smart tech, devices that can assist in day to day tasks easily, is a hot one right now. From Google’s new touch-sensitive jacket to the Amazon Echo to Microsoft’s Cortana, smart tech is developing and being implemented rapidly. It won’t be long before many of these are fully integrated into our day to day lives.

Two decades ago, some people still thought cell phones were a fad that would die out. Today, they’re ubiquitous, and leading the way in smart technology development. It’s difficult to say what the future will hold, but it’s fun to think about. Here are five smart technologies that are likely to change the world in the next five years as stated by Mainor Wirth Injury Lawyers.

1. Self-driving smart cars

Perhaps the most anticipated technological development in the car since Henry Ford first started rolling out his vehicles, the self-driving car is on the verge of hitting consumer markets in droves. Google has made significant strides with their self-driving car in the Waymo project, and Tesla has already begun selling a car with an autopilot feature for those with a deep pocket and the urge to have the absolute latest in cutting-edge technology said MADDOX, SEGERBLOM & CANEPA, LLP. These vehicles promise safe, hands-free driving and can stop, start, avoid other vehicles and predict the behavior of drivers around them. They’re already available, but in the next five years they will begin taking over the car market. Although it’ll put taxi drivers out of work, the development promises to make roads safer.

2. Virtual assistants

According to Data Center Journal, the app is dying. In its place are virtual assistants who can complete the tasks individual apps can, on your behalf, using voice control. This technology is slowly catching on with the use of products like Amazon Echo, Apple Siri, Microsoft Cortana and Google Home. Virtual assistants are taking over everything from television control to online browsing. These devices are becoming increasingly easy and intuitive to use, and they promise to turn every home into a smart home and every device into a smart device.

3. Drone technology

It’s not all sunshine and roses in the world of developing technology. Drones are becomingly increasingly popular among consumers, but even as consumers bring simple devices into their homes, more and more armies across the globe are looking to add weaponized drones to their arsenals for combat. These devices are going to show up in individual homes, but they’re also going to facilitate continued attacks in wars globally despise their moral dubiousness, and the current political climate suggests more countries may be deploying drones in battle in the next five years.

4. Artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence that can predict and interact with normal unscripted human behavior is on the rise. Everyone from Google to Facebook is developing artificial intelligence technology, looking to better understand consumers, how people communicate and how to reach out. Artificial intelligence is learning to spit out articles based on automatically generated content, identify suicide risks on social media, develop targeted advertising for particular customers and blur the lines between sentience and non-sentience.

5. Augmented reality

The line between real life and fantasy is getting messy. Artificial reality, virtual realities, immersive virtual experiences — they’re on the rise and expected to explode by 2021. Right now the technology is mostly used for entertainment purposes, but that may change as it finds a consumer foothold outside of the gaming community. Samsung and Verizon are both on the short list of companies looking to develop AR tech, looking to branch out into more consumer-friendly functions like images that activate product demonstrations and smart windscreens with cabinet refinishing for cars. The world of architecture and design also promises to be a strong candidate for the use and development of AR technology. Smart tech is taking over the world. As technology develops and entrepreneurs find new ways to use and implement these devices, our world will change to accommodate them. Five years from now these technologies may just be in every household.
