1964 Shelby 289 Cobra, CSX 2561 at Auctions America

Passionate car collectors are already anxiously anticipating Auctions America’s August sale in Burbank, California. This is where some 400 awesome cars from America and Europe will boast their timeless beauty and appeal. Old hot rods, classics, sports and custom editions will be tempting customers with deep pockets.

The most remarkable lot of the sale will be a 1964 Shelby 289 Cobra, CSX 2561, a rare piece and one of less than 20 units with automatic transmission. The car features adjustable wind-wings, chrome exhaust pipe tips, aluminum Cobra valve covers, tinted sun visors, outside rear view mirror, and competition seat belts. Original factory elements include the rear bumper, front grille guard, soft top, chrome air cleaner, and soft top.

The Cobra comes with full documentation. It was used for a while as a show-off unit by Shelby American and then changed several owners, receiving careful restoration and totaling 38,950 miles. Even though the interior is not the original one, it is still red, as it was when it first left the factory.
