VW 21-Window Micro Bus From 1965 Goes Under The Hammer

As its name suggests, the Type 2 is the second car model introduced by the renowned German automaker Volkswagen, and it saw the light of day for the first time in 1950. In 1965, Volkswagen created this beautiful 21-Window Micro Bus and delivered it to Rome, Italy, where it was registered on April 1 of the same year. Featuring its original license plates as well as a spectacular red and white paintjob, this carefully restored camper is set to seek out a new owner on September 9, when it will be put under the hammer by RM Auctions.

Powered by a 1,500 cc OHV air-cooled engine, this elderly Volkswagen has 40 horsepower under its hood, all of which are kept in line nicely by a  four-speed manual gearbox. The car was driven for just 28,542 kilometers or 17,735 miles, which is not a lot considering its 49 years of age. Due to its great condition and rarity, the 4-wheeler is expected to fetch about $100,000.
