Very Rare Patek Philippe Watch Bought for over $400,000

Every Patek Philippe timepiece is an accessory to wear proudly, but this one is more so than most others. Manufactured in 1997, the watch is part of a very limited edition of just ten pieces that were created to celebrate the inauguration of the brand’s new manufactory in Geneva.

The officer-style case is made of 18-carat pink gold, and the dial features Breguet numerals. The minute repeater watch is a Patek Philippe Ref 5029, No. 1, and it was estimated to fetch at least HK$3,000,000. The winning bid was of HK$3,332,000, which is approximately US$429,500. Sold on June 23 at an Antiquorum auction, the luxe timepiece was presented to its buyer (a bidder from Asia) in a presentation box, together with an Extract from the Archives.
