The problem with exploring the depths beneath our oceans is the enormous pressures that can crush even the sturdiest and toughest submarines, and even though we’ve made some serious progress on this front in the last years, we’re still falling short on what individual divers can accomplish. However, things are looking up thanks to a Canadian company named Nuytco, whose experts have created a reliable and durable piece of gear named Exosuit.
The Exosuit looks oddly similar to a spacesuit, and it allows divers to reach depths of 3,280 feet in complete safety. That’s because it is equipped with an atmospheric diving system, which keeps the cabin pressure steady while allowing the suit to bend thanks to a rotary joint put together by Phil Nuytten. There’s also a special version of the Exosuit that can go as low as 6,561 feet, and depending on its different configurations, the equipment can weigh between 500 and 600 lbs. Priced at $825,000, the Exosuit is definitely out of reach of the common explorer, but companies or particularly rich individuals will probably rush in to buy it.
