The New 2012 Mercedes-Bens S63 AMG

The New 2012 Mercedes-Bens S63 AMG (50)

If you’re interested in buying an S-Class, any Mercedes salesperson will show you no less than seven different versions of S-Class vehicles. However, if you’re looking for something truly impressive, you definitely need to browse the AMG-tuned models, because that’s where all the goodies are. The S63 AMG for instance is the most powerful 8-cylinder car in the range. Then there is also the more expensive S65 AMG with a twin-turbocharged 12-cylinder engine, but today we will focus on the 2012 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG, and all its qualities.

Prices for this baby can go as high as over $169,500, but the base price is $140,175. Of course, higher prices mean more alluring features, such as the 20-inch forged AMG wheels, the matte finish Mango Platinum paint, the Driver Assist Package with Distronic Plus cruise control, the Splitview display, or the very special Designo Auburn Edition Interior.

This is one of the most powerful five-seat sedans out there, with a direct fuel-injected 5.5-liter V8 capable of 536 horsepower and 590 pound-foot of torque. For those who want even more, Mercedes will offer the optional AMG Performance Package that can up those numbers to 564 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. With the high-performance AMG Speedshift MCT 7-speed  automatic gearbox with a wet start-up clutch, all this power is transformed in mind-boggling speed: 4.3 seconds for the 0-60 mph sprint, and a maximum speed of 186 mph (electronically limited).

When the driver uses the sportiest shift mode, gear changes can happen in just 1 second. This however does not affect the smoothness of the shifts – we are, after all, talking about a luxury sedan. The transmission has smooth rev-matching for downshifts, but there is also the option of manually taking care of that with the aluminum paddle shifters.

All AMG creations flaunt full body kits and large wheels, and this baby is no exception from the rule. It roles on 20-inch wheels with sport active suspensions and upgraded brakes. The interior is also very impressive with massaging front seats that are also multicontour heated and ventilated. Almost every inch of the interior is covered with premium leather, soft Alcantara, or glossy hand-finished wood. The main digital and analog displays can be viewed by the driver directly through the four-spoke steering wheel that features leather and polished wood accents. The center console holds an 8-inch multifunction display, and the overall impression is that of an airy and uncluttered interior.

The following photos will show you this gorgeous sedan in different angles, and they will reveal some of its bet details, like the rims, the exhaust pipes, the engine, or the leather dashboard. Enjoy!
