The first thing you notice about any car is its appearance. In the case of the new Mercedes-Benz CLS550 there is a lot to praise, right from a first glance. For this incredible result we have Hubert Lee to thank, a very talented and dedicated Korean designer.
He explains that designers feel very lucky even when just five percent of their concept design can be recognized in the production version. In this case however, we have reasons to believe that more than just a few design cues have made it to the final version.
Leaving the old naturally aspirated V8 behind, the 2012 CLS550 features a twin-turbocharged 4.6-liter engine, coupled to a seven-speed automatic gearbox and capable of putting out 402 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. The 0 to 60 mph sprint is completed in 5.1 seconds. With a more refined transmission, the new Mercedes doesn’t boast mind-blowing quick shifts, but smooth and measured ones, making driving an effortless and pleasurable experience. The base price for this new beauty is $71,300.
