Superman IV Christopher Reeve Costume Fetches $35K at Auction

The recent Julien’s Auctions Beverly Hills Gallery sale that took place on April 5 and 6 included over 800 lots, but not all were as important and impressive as this Superman IV Christopher Reeve special effect flying costume, which fetched 10% more than previously estimated. Consisting of a tailor made blue knit leotard with zipper closure at the back and the iconic Superman logo at the front, the costume went for $35,000.

After having spent 26 years in a private British collection, the costume has now found a new owner. Its original Bermans and Nathans costumer tag still features a faded typed text that says Christopher Reeve – 4913 Flying – Superman IV. Other related lots offered at the auction include a cut sheet signed byGeorge Reeves from The Adventures of Superman, and a pair of boots from Superman III.
