Porsche Design 40th Anniversary Collector’s Boxes

Porsche Design is celebrating its 40th anniversary with two limited edition items: the 40Y of Iconic Products and the 40Y of Innovation collector’s boxes. Since the brand was born back in 1972, it has enriched the luxury market with an impressive number of remarkable and innovative products.

It all started with the ’72 Chronograph 1 from the Iconic Style collection, which was the world’s first all black wristwatch. This particular item – only with a matte silver grey finish – can be found in the 40Y Iconic Products box, together with the company’s legendary ’78 P’8478 sunglasses, also in a special version. This set is limited to only 911 pieces.

The second collector’s box, however, will be produced in 1,972 examples, as a reference to the brand’s foundation. This box contains four special edition sunglasses – the most iconic models of Porsche Design. They are all made of sandblasted titanium: the P’8478 model from 1978 (the first with interchangeable lenses), the P’8480 model from 1980 (the first foldable aviator sunglasses), the P’8418 model from 2006 (the first model with self-attaching interchangeable lenses), and the P’8494 model from 2010 (the first glasses pressed from one piece of titanium).
