The Italian supercar manufacturer created the amazing Huayra with the intention of entering the United States market of awesome rides, but the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) is making it very difficult for Pagani to achieve their goal. The U.S. car safety regulations are pretty tough and the outstanding Huayra does not comply with them.

Three years ago, Pagani submitted an exemption request to the NHTSA, who denied it, thus blocking the supercar from going on sale without the necessary safety modifications. What the Huayra lacks is child-safe advanced airbags. The automaker argued that the necessary changes would cost too much and it hoped that since Pagani is a low-volume manufacturer, it would be granted the exemption. This has happened before for Tesla and Lamborghini.

Unfortunately, the NHTSA decided they would not accept the car until all U.S. safety regulations were met. Consequently, Pagani announced that they will have to delay the launch of their newest ride on the American market. It will go on sale sometime in 2013 and not in 2012, as initially planed.Pagani Huayra’s Launch in the U.S. Delayed (1)
