If you compare Jim Clark’s superyacht with the more modern luxe vessels out there, you will certainly see why the billionaire’s significantly younger wife wants to upgrade the approximately $100 million craft. Christy Hinze is 31 years old and she feels that the boat’s interior is too sober and too old fashioned for her.

For the upgrading process, the 67 years old billionaire will have to shell out tens of millions of dollars. The refitting program will be carried out in New Zealand and it will include a lot of high-tech additions.

Athena currently has enough room to accommodate ten guests in five cabins. On the lower deck there is a full-width master cabin featuring a study, a walk-in wardrobe and a Jacuzzi. The yacht also has a media center, a library, a main salon with alfresco dining area and a wet bar, a formal dining salon and an open air lounge.

Measuring 295 feet, Athena is the second largest sailing superyacht in the world. The 305-foot long Eos is the largest one and it belongs to Barry Diller.
