Ulysse Nardin is known today as one of the most iconic watchmakers in the world, but that’s not because its watches are necessarily the most luxurious. Actually, this Swiss brand focuses on innovation above all else, and with today’s level of technological advancement, creating truly innovative timepieces is no easy task. Still, at SIHH 2017, the company has unveiled its latest masterpiece: the staggering InnoVision 2 Concept Watch, which includes no less than 10 innovations.
To be more specific, these innovations come in the form of a Dual Constant Escapement, Direct Silicium Bonding, a Silicium balance wheel with gold mass elements and stabilizing micro paddles, a Grinder automatic winding system, and a Sapphire-coated silicium bridge. We should also mention the 24-Karat hard gold wheels, the glass bridge with integrated shock protection for the balance wheel, Super-LumiNova filled channels integrated into the glass balance wheel bridge, a special 1-11 and 13-23 time display, and three-dimensional glass minute hands.
Some of the materials and technologies used for this particular piece are experimental, which means that they are still being tested, and the best way to test them is actually to implement them in a concept watch.
