Gallardo Production to End Together with Manual Transmission

As the beloved Lamborghini Gallardo is heading to its end run, everybody is wondering how this sad event will happen and what special launch will mark the end of the Gallardo era. According to Michael Lock, the COO of Lamborghini America, the automaker is thinking of a “back to basics” version for the last production effort for this model.

The key features that you can expect this car to have are a rear-wheel drive, a stripped interior that features nothing else but the bare essentials, and a classic manual transmission. Unfortunately this limited edition Gallardo will also mark the end of all manual gearboxes at Lamborghini. We know, it’s sad, but the Italian automaker can’t ignore the fact that 9 out of every 10 Lambos sold feature automatic transmissions.

As for the launch of the last Gallardo, we only know that there is a good chance for Lamborghini to have at least one example on the market by the end of the year.
