The MINI Cooper is undoubtedly one of the most reliable, comfortable and fun cars to drive around in a busy city, and even though its looks and performance capabilities were always appreciated, its 3-door design wasn’t always its strong point.
However, things are about to change for the beloved MINI Cooper as its makers decided to implement a superb 5-door version of it for the delight of its fans. Based on the 3-door F56 model, this 2015 MINI Cooper hardtop features a wheelbase that is longer by 2.8 inches, which can only mean more leg room and more comfort for the back passengers. The new body is also a bit taller and longer by about 5 inches, but we should also tell you a bit about the car’s impressive performance capabilities.
The standard powertrain configuration involves a 1.5-liter turbo three-cylinder engine that’s good for 134 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, but the Cooper S variant features a much more impressive setup based on a 2.0-liter turbo engine boasting 189 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque. To make things even better, MINI decided that both versions should come with manual or automatic transmissions according to the user’s preference. Diesel-based MINI’s will also be available for the European market exclusively, which is great since those engines are well known for their efficiency.
You can expect to see this stunning little vehicle in various showrooms starting fall.
