On April 23 Bonhams will sale a truly magnificent piece of jewelry called the Trombino Ring. It is a superb 1960s ring flaunting a huge blue diamond surrounded by brilliant cut and baguette cut white diamonds. It was masterfully manufactured by Bulgari and it is a very rare piece, because blue diamonds of this quality and size are not easy to come by.
The custom-cut gem weighs 5.30 carats and it was beautifully integrated into the elegant design of the ring, in a horizontal position. The jewel dates back to an era when Bulgari was famous for being extremely innovative and imaginative with its creations as compared to other jewelers of the time – the 1960s and 1970s. This rare beauty is expected to fetch between £1 million and £1.5 million (approx. $1.5 – $2.3 million).
